What Decides Your Urbania Rental Price

Two groups asking for "the Urbania rate" can get two different numbers, and it is not because the pricing is inconsistent. Four things move the figure, and once you know them you can work out roughly what your own trip will cost before you call anyone.

1. Which variant you book

The 9, 12 and 13 seater Luxury Urbania all sit at Rs 35 per km. The 16 seater is Rs 38 and the 17 seater is Rs 40, because they are heavier vehicles with a higher running cost. The Premium Maharaja Urbania is Rs 50 - you are paying for seat width and cabin finish rather than for seats.

2. Distance plan or day package

A per km plan bills what you actually run. A day package buys a block of time and distance. Neither is universally cheaper, which is the point of the comparison below.

3. The route itself

Hill routes such as Char Dham, Mussoorie or Shimla consume more fuel and more driving hours per kilometre than a highway run to Agra or Jaipur. Routes crossing state borders add entry tax. Neither changes the per-km rate, but both change the final bill.

4. When you travel

Rates do not rise in season, but availability collapses. In May and June, during wedding season and across the Char Dham yatra months, the larger vans go first. Booking late in those windows usually means no vehicle rather than a higher price.

Per Km Plan or Day Package - Which Is Cheaper?

This is the question we answer most often on the phone, so here is the arithmetic in the open. The rule of thumb: if you will cover less distance than the package allows, take the package; if you will exceed it, take the per km plan.

Trip Approx. running Better plan
Delhi city sightseeing, one day 60 to 80 km Day package (80 km / 8 hours)
Airport transfer, one way 30 to 60 km Day package or fixed transfer quote
Delhi to Agra, same-day return ~440 km Day package (250 km / 16 hours) or per km - ask for both
Delhi to Jaipur, two days ~570 km Per km plan
Char Dham yatra, eleven days 1,700 to 1,900 km Per km plan, 250 km per day minimum
Wedding, three days of local runs Low distance, long hours Day package with driver on standby

We will quote you both and tell you which is lower for your itinerary. If an operator only ever quotes one plan, ask them for the other.

What the Rate Includes and Excludes

Most disputes about a rental bill come from this section rather than from the headline rate, so it is worth reading before you compare quotes.

Included in the per km rate

  • The vehicle and fuel for the distance travelled.
  • A professional driver with a commercial licence and route experience.
  • Vehicle documentation, permits and insurance.
  • Pickup and drop at your address - kilometres are counted from your pickup point, not from our garage.

Charged separately, at actuals

  • Driver allowance - Rs 700 per day for the 9, 12, 13 and 16 seater; Rs 800 for the 17 seater and the Maharaja variants.
  • Toll charges on expressways and national highways.
  • State entry tax where the route crosses a state border.
  • Parking fees at monuments, hotels, airports and temple approach points.
  • Night driving allowance where the vehicle runs between 11 PM and 6 AM.
  • GST as applicable.

Note that the per day packages above already include toll, state taxes and fuel - that is the main structural difference between the two plans and a common source of confusion when comparing quotes.

Urbania Rates by Trip Type

City sightseeing and local use

The 80 km / 8 hour package, from Rs 7,500 for the 9 and 12 seater. Suits a Delhi monument day, a temple circuit, or a day of local errands where the van waits between stops.

Airport transfers

Quoted as a fixed transfer for a single run, or on the day package where the group needs the vehicle either side of the flight. We track the flight number so the van is waiting when the group lands.

Outstation and tour packages

Per km from Rs 35, or the 250 km / 16 hour package from Rs 15,000 for a long single day. Same-day returns to Agra, Mathura and Haridwar all fit inside the larger package.

Pilgrimage and yatra

Per km with a 250 km per day minimum, with the driver staying with the group throughout. See Delhi to Char Dham by Urbania van for a worked eleven-day example.

Weddings and events

Per day with the driver on standby for the full function, so the same vehicle covers every hotel-to-venue run rather than being released between legs.

Corporate and staff transport

Fixed-price quotes against an approved budget, GST invoicing, and monthly billing for recurring bookings.

How to Get an Exact Quote

The tables above will get you within a few hundred rupees of the real number for most trips. For an exact figure we need four things: your dates, your pickup address, your group size and your destination. With those we can tell you the variant, the cheaper of the two plans, and the full cost including every extra listed above.

Call +91 87507 89405, message us on WhatsApp, or use the enquiry form. We answer 24 hours a day, and we quote the whole number rather than a headline rate with the extras discovered later.

How Urbania Rates Compare with a Tempo Traveller

The honest answer is that a standard tempo traveller is cheaper per kilometre, and for some trips it is the right choice. Where the Urbania earns the difference is on long journeys and on hill routes, and it is worth being specific about why rather than simply claiming it is better.

  • Seat design. The Urbania has push-back seats with real recline. On a two-hour city run that is a nice-to-have; on a nine-hour hill day it is the whole difference between arriving rested and arriving wrecked.
  • Cabin height and boarding. A high roof and a proper step matter enormously when elderly passengers are boarding and alighting a dozen times a day.
  • Ride quality. The monocoque body and suspension settle the vehicle on hairpins in a way that a ladder-frame tempo traveller does not, which is felt most by anyone prone to travel sickness.
  • Luggage separation. A dedicated boot rather than luggage stacked in the aisle or on the roof.

For a half-day local run with a young group, a tempo traveller at a lower rate is perfectly sensible and we will say so. For Char Dham, a multi-day Rajasthan circuit, or any trip carrying elders, the Urbania is what we would put our own family in. A full side-by-side breakdown is on our Force Urbania vs tempo traveller page.

Urbania Rate Questions Answered

The 9, 12 and 13 seater Luxury Urbania are Rs 35 per km. The 16 seater is Rs 38, the 17 seater Rs 40, and the 9 and 12 seater Premium Maharaja Urbania Rs 50 per km.

Kilometres are counted from your pickup point, not from our garage. Driver allowance, tolls, state entry tax and parking are billed separately at actuals.

The 80 km / 8 hour package starts at Rs 7,500 for the 9 and 12 seater, Rs 8,000 for the 13 seater, Rs 8,500 for the 16 seater and Rs 9,000 for the 17 seater. The Maharaja variants are Rs 11,000.

For a longer day, the 250 km / 16 hour package starts at Rs 15,000. Unlike the per km plan, the day packages already include toll, state taxes and fuel.

Not in the per km rate. The driver allowance is Rs 700 per day for the 9, 12, 13 and 16 seater and Rs 800 per day for the 17 seater and Maharaja variants. It is quoted alongside the fare before you confirm, never added afterwards.

It depends entirely on your running. If you will cover less distance than the package allows, the package is cheaper; if you will exceed it, the per km plan wins. A Delhi sightseeing day suits the 80 km package; a two-day Jaipur trip suits per km.

We quote both and tell you which is lower for your itinerary.

In the per day packages, yes - toll, state taxes and fuel are included. On the per km plan they are not, and are billed at actuals along with parking and any night driving allowance. This is the single most common source of confusion when comparing two operators' quotes.

No. The rate card is the same year round. What changes in May, June, wedding season and the Char Dham yatra months is availability - the 16 and 17 seater vans go first, and late booking in those windows usually means no vehicle rather than a higher price.

The per-km rate is unchanged. Hill routes cost more in total because they consume more running and more days, and because Uttarakhand green tax, state entry tax and the driver's hill accommodation apply. All of that is itemised in the quote before you pay a deposit.

Yes. Tell us at the time of booking and we issue the invoice against your company details. For companies with recurring bookings - staff transport, regular offsites - we can arrange monthly billing instead of invoicing each trip separately.
