Prayagraj is a pilgrimage city where almost nobody travels alone. Families come for the Sangam, for asthi visarjan, for the Magh Mela, and every twelve years for the Kumbh - and they come eight, twelve or sixteen at a time, usually with elders, usually with luggage, and usually needing a vehicle that will wait rather than one that has to be found again.

Why Groups Book an Urbania Here

The Sangam is the point where the practical case makes itself. The approach road changes with the water level and the season, the walk from the drop point can be long, and during mela periods vehicle access moves considerably further out. A group split across autos will not arrive together, and on a day built around a specific ritual that matters.

The rate card below is our published starting point, with the exact rate confirmed when we quote. For a local day where the vehicle waits between sites, the fixed day package usually wins; for an arrival from Lucknow or Varanasi, the per-km plan usually does.

A local Prayagraj day on the 80 km / 8 hour package is Rs 7,500 for the 9 or 12 seater. A same-day return from Lucknow or Varanasi fits the 250 km / 16 hour package from Rs 15,000.

What to See in Prayagraj

Triveni Sangam

The confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati, and the reason most groups come. The ritual usually involves a boat out to the sangam point. Allow half a day rather than two hours, particularly if the group includes elders.

Hanuman Mandir (Bade Hanuman ji)

Beside the fort near the Sangam, and traditionally visited on the same trip. The reclining idol is unusual enough that even non-pilgrims find it worth the stop.

Akshayavat and Patalpuri temple

Inside the Akbar-era fort complex near the Sangam. Access arrangements vary, so it is worth checking on the day rather than building an itinerary around it.

Anand Bhavan

The Nehru family home, now a museum. The most popular non-religious stop in the city and a good counterweight for mixed groups where not everyone is there for the ghats.

Khusro Bagh

Mughal tombs in a walled garden near the junction station. Quiet, shaded and easy walking - a sensible last stop before an evening train.

Alopi Devi and Mankameshwar temples

Both short stops that fit around the Sangam visit without stretching the day.

Kumbh and Magh Mela Travel

Mela periods change everything about moving around Prayagraj, and it is worth being blunt about it before you book.

• Vehicle access moves far out. During major mela days, parking is kilometres from the Sangam and the walk is substantial. No operator can drive you closer, whatever they promise.
• Route restrictions change daily. Our drivers work to the published diversions on the day rather than a fixed plan.
• Snan dates are the extreme. On the principal bathing days, expect to walk a long way and to move very slowly. Groups with elderly members should consider a non-snan day.
• Book far ahead. Vehicles for mela periods go months in advance, not weeks.

We will tell you honestly what a mela-day booking involves rather than selling a plan that cannot survive contact with the diversions. Outside the mela, Prayagraj is a straightforward city to move around.

Routes to and from Prayagraj

The Ayodhya, Prayagraj and Varanasi circuit over four to five days is the most requested multi-day trip in this region, with the same van and driver throughout. Groups arriving from the west usually start at Lucknow.

Travelling for Asthi Visarjan

A significant share of our Prayagraj bookings are families coming for asthi visarjan, and it is a different kind of trip from a sightseeing day. The group is often travelling at short notice, frequently overnight, usually with elderly relatives, and nobody is in a state to negotiate transport at each stage.

What we can do is keep that part simple. One vehicle collects the family from the station, airport or home, stays with them at the ghat for as long as the rituals take, and takes them back or onward afterwards. The driver understands what the day is and does not hurry anybody.

• Short-notice bookings. Call us and we will tell you honestly what is available for tomorrow rather than taking a booking we cannot fill.
• The van waits, without a meter running on time. Rituals take as long as they take.
• Luggage and belongings stay secure in the boot while the family is at the water.
• Onward travel included in the same booking - many families continue to Varanasi or Ayodhya afterwards, and it is one quote rather than three.

Pandit arrangements, boat hire and the rituals themselves are made at the ghat and are not part of the vehicle fare. We would rather you dealt with those directly than paid us a margin on them.

Family of 8 to 10

The 12 seater Urbania at Rs 35 per km.

Extended family or group of 12 to 16

The 16 seater at Rs 38 or 17 seater at Rs 40 - the lowest cost per head and the usual community-group booking.

When elders are travelling

The 9 seater Maharaja Urbania at Rs 50 per km, for the wider seats and deeper recline.

• Driver allowance - Rs 700 per day for the 9, 12, 13 and 16 seater; Rs 800 for the 17 seater and Maharaja.
• Tolls on expressway approaches.
• Parking, which during mela periods can be a significant charge.
• Boat hire at the Sangam - arranged at the ghat, and cheaper booked directly than through any operator.
• Night driving allowance between 11 PM and 6 AM.

• Deposit confirms the vehicle.
• Driver details the evening before.
• Travel. The driver stays with the group all day.

One last thing worth saying about Prayagraj: it rewards an unhurried plan. Groups that try to fit the Sangam, Ayodhya and Varanasi into three days spend most of them in the vehicle, and the rituals that brought them end up squeezed between departure times. Four or five days across the three cities costs relatively little more in running, because the distances between them are short - and it is the difference between a pilgrimage and a schedule.
