Urbania Van on Rent in Ayodhya

Ayodhya now receives group pilgrims on a scale the town's local transport was never built for. Families arrive twelve and sixteen at a time by train into Ayodhya Dham or Faizabad, or by road from Lucknow, Varanasi and Delhi, and then need a vehicle that will stay with them for the day - because the sites are spread out, the walking is considerable, and darshan timings do not accommodate a group that arrived in three separate autos.

Why Groups Book an Urbania in Ayodhya

The practical problem in Ayodhya is that vehicle access near the main temple complex is restricted and the distances between sites are awkward - too far to walk in the heat, too short to be worth negotiating a fare for each time.

• The van stays with you all day. Drop at the permitted point, wait, and collect - no renegotiating at every stop.
• Elders can board easily. High roof, wide door and a proper step. On a day involving a lot of walking, the vehicle should not add to it.
• Luggage stays secure in the boot while the group is at darshan, rather than being carried or left with an auto driver.
• AC that reaches the back rows while the vehicle waits - Ayodhya summers are severe.
• Everyone arrives together, which matters when darshan slots are timed.

There is also a scheduling argument that groups only appreciate afterwards. An Ayodhya day is a sequence of waits - the queue at the complex, the aarti time at the ghats, the long lunch that has to happen somewhere in the middle. A vehicle that is yours for the day absorbs all of that: the group can change the order of the afternoon, wait out a downpour, or leave an hour later than planned without anybody renegotiating anything. A local Ayodhya day on the 80 km / 8 hour package is Rs 7,500 for the 9 or 12 seater. Coming from Lucknow and returning the same day fits the 250 km / 16 hour package from Rs 15,000. We quote both plans and you take the lower.

What to See in Ayodhya

A full day covers the main sites comfortably. Two days lets you add Faizabad and travel at a pace that suits older pilgrims. The sites below are listed in the order most groups take them, which is not the order of a map - it follows the traditional sequence and the times of day each place is best seen.

Ram Janmabhoomi temple complex

The main destination for almost every group. Vehicle access is restricted near the complex; the driver drops at the permitted point and collects from the same place. Expect a walk and a security queue, and allow considerably more time than the distance suggests.

Hanuman Garhi

A short distance from the main complex and traditionally visited first. The climb is a flight of steps - worth knowing if the group includes anyone with limited mobility.

Kanak Bhawan

Quieter than the main sites, and one that groups often rate most highly precisely because it is not crowded.

Ram Ki Paidi and the Saryu ghats

Best in the early evening for the aarti. The van can wait close by, which matters at the end of a long day.

Nageshwarnath and Treta Ke Thakur

Both short stops that fit into a full-day itinerary without extending it much.

Practical Notes for Ayodhya

• Go early. Darshan queues build through the morning, and the walking is far easier before the heat.
• Restricted vehicle access. No vehicle reaches the main temple directly. The driver uses the designated drop point - this is normal and not a shortcut being taken.
• Festival dates. Ram Navami, Deepotsav around Diwali, and Sawan weekends are extraordinarily busy. Book weeks ahead and expect longer walks from parking.
• Phones and bags. Restrictions apply at the main complex. Leave what you can in the van rather than queuing at a cloakroom.
• Best months. October to March. May and June are punishing given how much of the day is spent walking outdoors.
• Footwear. There is more walking barefoot than most first-time visitors expect. Socks are worth carrying.

Planning a One-Day or Two-Day Visit

The single biggest planning mistake groups make in Ayodhya is treating it as a half-day stop on the way to somewhere else. The walking, the queues and the security checks all take longer than the map distances suggest.

The one-day version

Arrive by 7:00 AM. Hanuman Garhi first, then the Ram Janmabhoomi complex while the queues are shortest, Kanak Bhawan late morning, a long lunch break through the worst of the heat, then Nageshwarnath and the Saryu ghats for the evening aarti. Depart after aarti or stay the night.

The two-day version

Worth it for any group including elderly pilgrims. Day one covers the main complex and Hanuman Garhi without rushing; day two takes in Kanak Bhawan, Treta Ke Thakur, Guptar Ghat and Faizabad, with time to sit. The van and driver stay with you throughout and the cost difference is mostly the overnight, not the running.

As part of a circuit

Most of our multi-day bookings combine Ayodhya with Prayagraj and Varanasi over four to five days. It is the natural circuit - the three cities sit within a few hours of each other and the same van and driver cover all of it, quoted per km with a 250 km per day minimum.

Which Urbania for a Pilgrimage Group

Family of 8 to 10

The 12 seater Urbania at Rs 35 per km.

Extended family or temple group of 12 to 16

The 16 seater at Rs 38 or 17 seater at Rs 40 - the lowest cost per head, and the usual booking for a community group.

When elders are travelling

The 9 seater Maharaja Urbania at Rs 50 per km. On a day with this much walking, the vehicle should be the restful part.

• Driver accommodation on overnight trips where the hotel does not provide it.
• Night driving allowance between 11 PM and 6 AM.
